HEALTH AND WELFARE Government health institutions in the municipality of Daet include the three (3) Rural Health Units known as Rural Health Unit I, Rural Health Unit II and Rural Health Unit III. Other government operated health institutions include the Daet Puericulture Center and the Camarines Norte Provincial Hospital. For a more effective and speedy delivery of health services to the population, the municipality was strategically divided into three (3) areas being served by a Rural Health Unit headed by a Licensed Doctor and competent health personnel . Rural Health Unit I covers 9 barangays which include : Camambugan, Magang, Mancruz, Pamorangon, Barangay II, Calasgasan, Dogongan, Bibirao and Alawihao. Rural Health Unit II also covers nine (9) barangays including Barangay I, Barangay VI, Barangay VII, Barangay VIII, Gubat, Bagasbas, Cobangbang, Mambalite & San Isidro. Rural Health Unit III, the newly established center covers seven (7) barangays to include Lag-on, Barangay III, Barangay IV, Barangay V, Gahonon, Awitan and Borabod. Medical and health personnel assigned in Rural Health Unit I and II include one (1) Registered Doctor, 1 nurse, six (6) Midwives, Barangay Health Workers, Barangay Nutrition Scholars, trained Hilots and one (1) Clerical Staff . RHU III is headed by a licensed doctor with one (1) nurse, four (4) Rural Health Midwives, BHWs, BNS and trained Hilots. In Addition the three RHU’s is being served by one (1) Medical Technologist, one (1) Sanitary Inspector, one (1) Assistant Sanitary Inspector, one (1) Dentist and job order employees assisting in administrative and clerical functions within the office. As the primary unit engaged in the extension of health services to the municipal population, the Rural Health Units offer both preventive and diagnostic services which are encompassed in their major program of activities as: 1) immunization program; 2) tuberculosis control and prevention program; 3) control of diarrheal disease; 4) environmental sanitation; 5) health education campaign/training; 6) Cardio-vascular disease control; 7) leprosy control; 8) prevention/treatment of sexually transmitted diseases; 9) nutrition program; 10) primary eye care; 11) maternal child health; 12) family planning; 13) field health services information; and 14) dental care services. The Puericulture Center is staffed by one (1) Midwife, one (1) Nurse and one (1) part-time Physician.
